Graduate scholarship, appreciation for local educator
On Saturday, January 27, 2018, the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation, led by Tamara Denysenko, together with the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union awarded two graduate students with the Rochester Ukrainian Group Centennial Graduate Scholarship. Congratulations to Vladimir Tokarchuk and Maryana Zakharchishin for their awards, and we wish them success in their academic endeavors and beyond. Evhen Lylak, Ed.D. (RIT), Olena Prokopovych, Ph.D. (Nazareth College), and Olenka Dilai (Monroe Community College) served on the Graduate Scholarship Committee.
The Ukrainian-American Community Foundation also took the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate educator, long-time Rochester Ukrainian-American community activist and president of Rochester Ukrainian Group (RUG), Dr. Christine Hoshowsky. Irondequoit Town Supervisor, David Seeley, was present and shared some kind words about his former teacher, Dr. Hoshowsky, and expressed his appreciation for her commitment to education as well as the Rochester Ukrainian community.
